SYNOPSIS:
This image is part of a documentary project - an intimate portrayal of a girl that suffers from SPD (Schizoid Personality Disorder) and one of her manifested fetishistic obsessions. She suffers from a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards solitary lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness and apathy. Affected individuals often simultaneously demonstrate a rich, elaborate and exclusively internal fantasy world. Abandoned by her mother and left to her own devices by her father, the girl grew up on a remote farm alone. With the years passing by, she had progressively adhered to self-invented bizarre rituals, which usually consist of ‘playing around’ with different animals from the farm that her father had freshly slaughtered each morning, in order to sell later on that day. She agreed to let me photograph her only if her face remains obscured at all times. For the brief hour that I spent with her, this then becomes my modest attempt to look through her eyes and to capture her portrait, without ever taking one.
